Since the famous 'park it' moment at Atlanta Motor Speedway last Spring, Josh Williams has become a household name in NASCAR.
That moment, and his tenacity behind the wheel of a race car, gained him a ride with Kaulig Racing in the Xfinity Series in 2024.
He hasn't even made his first start for the team but he's already getting a major promotion. Kaulig Racing took to X to announce that Williams will sit behind the wheel of a Cup car during the 2024 season. Williams, who has three previous Cup starts, will pilot the No. 16 Alloy Employer Services Chevrolet.

So far, only two races have been announced — this weekend's Busch Light Clash at the LA Coliseum, and the Spring race at Atlanta. Other races are planned for the future.
He previously made three cup starts in 2022 driving for Live Fast Motorsports, with a best finish of 25th both on the dirt at Bristol and then again at the Indianapolis road course.
"Getting another opportunity in the Cup Series is humbling especially with a team like Kaulig Racing," Williams tells Motorsport.com. "I've been spending time in the sim with Team Chevy, and that's been a huge help in getting comfortable and acclimated to the L.A. Coliseum. Short-track racing is my background, and it doesn't get much shorter than at The Clash. I'm ready for the challenge."
Kaulig Racing has won two Cup races to date, both with the No. 16 car, so maybe Williams will have a shot this year, as he will be splitting seat time in the No. 16 Cup car with A.J. Allmendinger.
Kaulig Racing's team president Chris Rice is excited to have Williams and Alloy Employer Services on board.
"Josh has impressed us at Kaulig Racing with how quickly he's gotten up to speed in sim testing, so we knew we needed to work together to get him in the No. 16 Cup car in Los Angeles," Kaulig Racing's team president Chris Rice explains. "Alloy Employer Services' enthusiasm to get involved with our Cup and Xfinity programs has made it easy to give this the green light, and we're hopeful that there will be a handful of Cup starts with Josh, Alloy Employer Services and Kaulig Racing this season."
Hopefully, Williams has a better chance of parking a Kaulig car in victory lane instead of on the front stretch of a racetrack.
