The Cup Series team announced the news on Monday morning with a press release. Andy Street will take over the No. 8 team, starting this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. He will remain in this role for the remaining races in 2026.

Jim Pohlman, the man who moved from JR Motorsports to Richard Childress Racing this season, will remain with the organization. He will take on a leadership role in the competition department.

"We strongly believe in the people we have," said Mike Verlander, president of RCR. "At the same time, we expect better results, and that requires us to continually evaluate and make adjustments.

"Jim has more than two decades of success in this sport and will remain an important part of our team. We believe Andy and Kyle's previous working relationship positions us to improve the No. 8 team and compete at a higher level."

Busch and the entire No. 8 team struggled in the first 10 races of the season. They won the pole for the Daytona 500 but did not have a finish better than 12th in the first nine races. Busch also finished 20th or worse in six of these races.

The trip to Talladega Superspeedway served as the team's best finish. Busch crossed the finish line in 10th place despite being collected in a 26-car crash that unfolded in the second stage.

Street now takes over the No. 8 team after working in multiple roles with Richard Childress Racing. He currently serves as the team's performance director, but he has also spent extensive time on top of the pit box while working with multiple drivers.

Street has 167 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series races on his crew chief resume. This includes 10 wins with Austin Hill and one with Myatt Snider.

The veteran crew chief has guided Cup Series teams for six races. He was on the pit box for 12 races last season, split between Busch, Hill, and Jesse Love. This includes a fifth-place finish at Phoenix Raceway with Busch.

Street has worked with Love and Hill in four combined Cup races this season. Both drivers have the exact same average starting position (32.0) and average finish (27.0) in their races.
