Kyle Larson Puts on Clinic in Las Vegas

Kyle Larson put on a clinic Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to secure his first win of the 2024 season.

Larson led 181 laps and swept all the stages en route to his third career win at Las Vegas. This was also the second consecutive victory for Larson at the track, as he won the race at Las Vegas in October. The win last year sent him to the Championship 4, and this victory sends him to the playoffs.

The 2021 Cup champion started the race on the front row in second and really never faded back from there. The only driver who could compete with Larson all day was Tyler Reddick. Reddick finished second to Larson in both stages and at the finish. Reddick made a last-ditch effort at the end of the race, but Larson was able to hold off the late charge to earn his 24th career win in the NASCAR Cup Series.

After he got out of the car, Larson celebrated with his children and talked about the finish.

"I knew Tyler was going to be the guy to beat from the first stage when he was really fast there," Larson said. "I was hoping those guys were going to get racing a little bit longer behind me because I thought it was going to time out where he was running really hard.

"I thought he and Bubba (Wallace) were going to try to work together and build a run," he said. "So, I was happy that didn't happen. All in all, just a great, great job by this team. Just the execution on pit road, the restarts, all that was great. Cool to get a win here in Vegas again. Swept all the stages again. Can't ask for much more."

The win marked the fourth consecutive victory for Hendrick Motorsports in the spring race at Las Vegas. It also puts Larson atop the Cup Series standings with an 8-point advantage over Ryan Blaney.
