A championship pairing appears headed for a reunion. Lowe's has teased a surprise return to the NASCAR Cup Series for a milestone event.

The home improvement store's social media channel created excitement among NASCAR fans on Monday with a post on X. It simply said, "(Ally Racing) (Carvana Racing) need an ally for your last ride? Check your DMs."
It didn't take much time for people to put together the pieces, especially with Jimmie Johnson, Legacy Motor Club, and his other sponsors immediately jumping into the conversation.
This sponsor tease follows a major update from Johnson, Hendrick Motorsports, and Legacy Motor Club. They previously revealed that Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR had approved Johnson using the No. 48 for one last start.
The Hall of Famer had previously driven the No. 84 in his part-time starts for Legacy Motor Club, but he said this would be the number for the team's third full-time car in 2027.
He then said he would use the No. 13 for his final start in NASCAR, but that announcement happened before he received approval to borrow the No. 48 from Hendrick Motorsports and Alex Bowman.
Carvana has been the primary sponsor of Johnson as he has made limited starts, and it will do so once again as he makes his final start. His last Cup Series race will be the 2027 Daytona 500.
Ally Racing also sponsored Johnson and the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team before he retired from full-time competition.
Lowe's, of course, served as Johnson's primary sponsor for decades. This company joined him for his part-time debut way back in 2001, and it remained by his side through the end of the 2018 season.
Lowe's and Johnson celebrated 83 Cup Series wins together, as well as seven championships. They became synonymous during one of the most dominant runs in NASCAR history.
Of course, the home improvement chain departed the sport after 2018, so Ally took over Johnson's No. 48. But now it appears that it will return for one more ride to properly close out the Hall of Famer's Cup Series tenure.
