The two had ended their relationship in early 2023, and Truex made it clear that when the two separated, he wasn't going to answer questions about the subject.
However, following the news of Pollex's passing, Truex shared a statement about the loss of Sherry via Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass.

"From the very minute of her diagnosis, Sherry was determined to not only fight ovarian cancer with everything she had but also make a difference in the lives of others battling this terrible disease," Truex said. "Sherry's passion for making a difference in the lives of others was inspiring to everyone. Through her tireless charity work for so many years, her legacy will live well beyond our lifetimes and continue to help countless families who are battling ovarian and childhood cancer. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her entire family, who have shown incredible strength and resilience throughout her battle."
Truex and Pollex began their charity work together in 2007 when they created the Martin Truex Jr Foundation. Their hard work in bringing awareness and advocating for research on both childhood and ovarian cancers has continued over the years.
Pollex became a fixture in the garage area for many years, including during the 2017 season that saw Truex win the Cup Series Championship.
By far one of the biggest accomplishments Pollex will be remembered for is the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Catwalk For a Cause. An event that is held every year in the fall, where children who are fighting cancer are given the chance to walk the catwalk with some of NASCAR's famous drivers and their wives or girlfriends.
Rest in Peace Sherry, your memory will live on, and the Catwalk for a Cause will always be a perfect way to carry on your legacy.
