A massive brawl erupted at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday afternoon as competitors trying to secure a spot in the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 Late Model main event traded blows in the garage.

Several people got involved in the fight, and one walked away with blood all over his face and his undershirt.
The incident occurred after the second heat race at the Virginia short track. Chase Burrow raced inside the top 10 just past the halfway point, but officials sent him to the rear after determining that he caused a caution. As he fought for a spot inside the top 10 on the final lap, he made contact with Brad Housewright.
Once the race ended, Housewright approached Burrow in the garage and began cursing at him. This included yelling, "I'll knock you the (expletive) out."
The situation continued to escalate as Burrow said some things in response. A member of Burrow's team then tried to place himself in front of Housewright, but the angry racer responded by shoving him.
Several people from both teams then rushed in as the brawl erupted. Burrow went after Housewright, and they both landed on the ground. The fight continued as some participants threw punches. Others focused on breaking it up.
Once the fight ended, both drivers got to their feet. Housewright had his firesuit open, and he had blood all over his face. He also had blood on his undershirt.
Speaking to Short Track Scene at Martinsville, Housewright said that he was upset with how Burrow raced him coming to the checkered flag.
"We was up under him and was coming to the checker," Housewright said. "As I was passing him he tried to right rear me.
"I don't appreciate that, it could get somebody hurt or even killed and I went over to say something to him and he started running that mouth. (Expletive) happens."
Burrow also provided his view of the fight at Martinsville. He told Short Track Scene that he never actually "raced" Housewright. He added that the other driver also grabbed the smallest member of his team.
The two drivers traded blows, but they did not have an opportunity to continue their conflict on the race track. Neither driver transferred to the main event after the heat race.
