According to a press release, Braun will be the next driver to join the Kaulig Racing free agent program. He will drive the No. 25 Ram 1500 as the series takes on St. Petersburg for the first time.

He will become the third driver to control the free agent truck. Tony Stewart took over the entry at Daytona International Speedway and then Ty Dillon drove it at EchoPark Speedway.

Braun, a former Roush prospect, is no stranger to NASCAR. He competed for multiple years in both the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. He made 84 total starts, and he celebrated a win at Michigan International Speedway.

The Texas native spent the majority of his time competing full-time in the Truck Series. He ran the full schedule in both 2008 and 2009, and he finished a career-best fifth in the championship standings in 2009.

Braun never competed full-time in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, but he made 24 starts during the 2010 season. His best outings were a pair of seventh-place finishes at World Wide Technology Raceway and Phoenix Raceway.

The 2011 season marked his final time in NASCAR — for the time being. He moved over to IMSA and delivered success. He has scored three WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles (2014, 2015, and 2022) and more than two dozen wins. He has also won the prestigious Rolex 24 four times.

"I'm excited to get back behind the wheel of a NASCAR truck, especially on such a cool weekend when they debut in St. Pete," Braun said.

"Ram's program offers a fantastic opportunity to mix my endurance background with oval and street course racing. I'm thrilled Ram is giving me this chance. I have seen how much work the Kaulig crew is putting into getting this program started up, and giving them a great result would repay them for the hard work!"

The Truck Series race at St. Petersburg will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28. Fox will broadcast the race, which begins at noon ET.
