BRISTOL, Tenn. — Defending NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series champion Jesse Love had clear frustration on his face as he stood by his car at Bristol Motor Speedway.

This frustration did not come from a 17th-place finish at a track where he had been in contention for the win. Instead, it came from a mistake he made on the track while racing Justin Allgaier for the lead, one that sent his Chevrolet teammate into the outside wall.
"I needed to run my best corner, and instead, I got caught up in the moment racing him," Love told the CW Sports.
"And in turn, that led me down a path to make an enemy I did not want to make, and make a terrible decision that took ourselves out of contention to win."

This incident occurred in the closing laps of Friday night's NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race. Allgaier and Love restarted on the front row after a caution for Patrick Staropoli spinning.
They continued racing side-by-side as they made it through Turns 3 and 4 and then they crossed the start-finish line with 14 laps to go in the race.
As they headed into Turn 1, Love ran Allgaier up the track. He pinched him into the outside wall and then squirted clear for the lead. Allgaier fell back to fourth as Taylor Gray moved into second.
A similar situation then unfolded as Gray tried to throw a slide job on Love. He made a mistake and sent Love into the outside wall. That put William Sawalich into the lead and Sheldon Creed into second on fresh tires.
A crash involving Ryan Sieg ultimately sent the race into overtime and set up a final battle between Sawalich and Creed. Allgaier restarted on the second row after mostly recovering from the contact with the wall.
Once the green flag waved, Creed jumped to the lead on the fresh tires. He went on to win his second race of the Chase and extend his points lead over Allgaier to 11.
But while Creed did his burnout, Allgaier quickly climbed out of his car. He hurried over to the No. 2 Chevrolet and stuck his head in the cockpit. He delivered a message to Love before ultimately heading back to his own car for a debrief with team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.

"I just told him I'm disappointed," Allgaier told NASCAR media members on pit road. "I mean, he knew it was a bad decision, and I think that's the hardest part. My big thing is I've raced you clean, I haven't put a bumper to you, right, all night long.
"We battled, and I passed him clean all night, and... I don't know. I just feel like that was egregious, and at the end of the day, it's Bristol."
But while Love believes that he may have made an enemy at Bristol Motor Speedway, he should not worry about any payback. Allgaier made it clear to media members that he's spent his entire career racing a certain way. He's not going to go out and wreck Love, even if he remains upset about the incident that took away his seventh win of the season.
