Craftsman Truck Series championship leader Layne Riggs has made a contract announcement ahead of the first Chase race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Riggs has confirmed that he will be back in the Truck Series full-time in 2027 while continuing to race for Front Row Motorsports. Though he hopes to finally make his Cup Series debut before the season's end.
"I can confirm with all of the media, I am returning to Front Row next year to race in the Truck Series," Riggs said on Tuesday while previewing the Chase. "They have picked up my option, and looking forward to it.
"They've been a great team for me. I'm under contract with them, they've done a great job at giving me trucks. They gave me my first opportunity racing in the Truck Series and got me to where I'm at today and got me to the name that I'm at and the success I've had.
"I love racing trucks, I think it's a lot of fun, I'm having the absolute time of my life and wouldn't want to do it with anyone else."
Riggs, 24, has spent his full-time Truck Series career with Front Row Motorsports. He has won 11 races since 2024, including a career-best six this season. He has also won five of the last nine races this season while securing the top seed in the Chase.
The North Carolina native started his career as a "short track guy" based on his history on the Late Model circuit. Yet, he has shown his ability to win on multiple tracks styles while gaining experience in NASCAR. He has wins on short tracks, road courses, and intermediates.
Riggs' ascension into a championship leader has led to questions about his future. Specifically, is he any closer to moving to the Cup Series after acknowledging this possibility earlier this season?
He confirmed that this remains the goal after providing an update on his contract status. As Riggs sees it, he could partially follow the Corey Heim path where he competes full-time in the Truck Series while making select starts in the Cup Series.
"I would love to sprinkle some Cup starts in there," Riggs said. "But my goal is to make a Cup Series start by the end of 2027, and I stay pretty firm on that."
