The three national NASCAR series return home to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend to continue the Chase schedule. One of the races, however, is at risk due to the threat of inclement weather.

The current forecast calls for persistent rain throughout Sunday, the same day that the NASCAR Cup Series teams take part in a Chase race on the 1.5-mile oval track. This is the first Chase race on the Charlotte oval since 2017.
If the rain falls as predicted, it will mark the second Charlotte Cup race this season affected by weather. The Coca-Cola 600 ended early due to rain as Daniel Suarez celebrated.
Friday Weather Forecast
The current WeatherUnderground forecast calls for favorable racing conditions on Friday. The only series in action is the Craftsman Truck Series, which holds a race at 5 p.m. ET. The Kyle Busch Celebration of Life then follows at 8 p.m. ET.
The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies throughout the day and a high of 80 degrees. There is a mere 3% chance of rain as of Tuesday afternoon.
Saturday Weather Forecast
The Saturday schedule features both the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Cup Series teams on track. O'Reilly Series teams will practice, qualify, and race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Cup Series teams will practice and qualify.

Sunday Weather Forecast
The forecast calls for cloudy skies throughout the day with periods of rain and a high of 69 degrees. There is an 84% chance of rain on Sunday, particularly at the scheduled start time for the Cup Series race (3 p.m. ET on USA).
If the race can not take place as planned, NASCAR may have to postpone it to Monday. However, the weather forecast is not favorable on that day either.
The Monday forecast calls for rain all morning before a brief period of sunshine lasting from 1 - 6 p.m. ET. Though there is still a 24% chance of rain at the time. The chance of rain increases once again in the evening.
The sanctioning body will push to get this race in considering the schedule. The Cup Series competes at Charlotte Motor Speedway before immediately heading to Phoenix Raceway for the final West Coast race of the season.
