"That's correct," the former Daytona 500 winner said on Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway when asked if he would continue racing for Team Penske. When pressed for confirmation that he would continue driving the No. 2, he said, "yes, sir."
"It's obviously come up in question, and I'm not entirely certain why it's come into question, but there you go," he added.
Cindric, 28, has long hinted that he would be back in the No. 2 Ford Mustang for the foreseeable future, but he had not previously confirmed definitively that he had signed an extension. Neither had Team Penske.
Last week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, USA Sports' Marty Snider said during the pre- and post-race shows that Cindric did not have a contract for the 2027 season.
The 2020 O'Reilly Auto Parts Series champion, Cindric has driven the historic No. 2 Ford in the Cup Series since the start of the 2022 season. He has delivered three wins, headlined by the Daytona 500.
This season, Cindric has fallen short of victory lane, yet he has posted a career-best average finish of 15.7. He has tied his career-best mark of nine top-10 finishes, and he has moved to ninth in the Chase standings after 31 races.
"He's been really strong here recently, and they've been executing solid races," teammate Joey Logano said during a media session at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
"And really, they've brought a lot of speed to the race track. That's the biggest thing that I've noticed different. Austin's always been a great competitor, great teammate, real student of the sport. Works really hard at it. So it's not a huge surprise to me."
With Cindric confirming his future, Team Penske will move forward with the same lineup for 2027. Logano is already on a long-term deal while Ryan Blaney signed a long-term extension back in May.
