According to the weekly penalty report, Hocevar violated Sections 4.4.B&D: NASCAR Member Conduct of the NASCAR Rule Book. He incurred a $50,000 fine.

What exactly was the behavioral infraction? According to the sanctioning body, it occurred after he spun from 13th place on Lap 260 of the Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway. Hocevar's No. 77 Chevrolet remained "beached" on the track with flat tires.

Officials said that as safety crews attempted to attend to the car, Hocevar revved his engine and spun his tires in an attempt to rejoin the rest of the Cup Series field. He ultimately finished the race in 29th place after qualifying sixth and running inside the top 10 in the opening stage.

The only other penalty in the weekly report involved the No. 48 team of Big Machine Racing. NASCAR fined the Xfinity Series team $5,000 after Nick Sanchez's No. 48 Chevrolet had one loose lug nut. Sanchez finished eighth at Kansas Speedway while continuing his pursuit of a spot in the Round of 8 of the playoffs.

NASCAR has previously fined Hocevar for violating the member code of conduct, albeit under different circumstances. The sanctioning body also fined him $50,000 last season for an incident at Nashville Superspeedway.

The behavioral penalty at the Tennessee track stemmed from Hocevar spinning fellow driver Harrison Burton under caution. The spinning No. 21 Ford nearly hit John Hunter Nemechek's No. 42 Toyota and the outside wall. Burton avoided both but ended the day in 28th place after being collected in a separate incident. Hocevar ended the day in 16th place while Joey Logano won in the fifth overtime attempt.

NASCAR responded to this Nashville incident by fining Hocevar $50,000. They also took away 25 driver points, which dropped the Spire Motorsports driver to 24th in the Cup Series standings.
