The 2027 Fourth of July weekend will feature NASCAR teams competing in a new part of the country while continuing a trend of rotating events.

According to a Thursday announcement, Iowa Speedway will now host two of the national series during the holiday weekend. The ARCA Menards Series will also fill out the weekend schedule.
The weekend will begin on Friday, July 2, 2027. The ARCA Menards Series teams will compete at the .875-mile short track, which NASCAR revived in 2024. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will then compete on Saturday, July 3, 2027.
The Cup Series teams will close out the weekend. They will race at Iowa Speedway for the fourth time on Sunday, July 4, 2027.
The race weekend will also take place after NASCAR makes multiple updates to the facility. The sanctioning body will repave the entire racing surface for the first time since reviving Iowa, which will make teams throw their existing notes out the window.
NASCAR will also make improvements to the concourses, suites, and various other areas to make Iowa Speedway more of a destination.

The repave efforts will begin after this weekend's sold out Cup Series race. They will be completed in time for the 2027 season and the first Fourth of July weekend at the short track.
"From the moment NASCAR returned to Iowa Speedway, fans have embraced this event in an incredible way with three consecutive NASCAR Cup Series sell outs," said Iowa Speedway President Eric Peterson. "Moving to Fourth of July weekend and competing on a brand-new racing surface is an exciting next chapter for our fans, our partners and the entire state of Iowa."
The Fourth of July weekend has featured NASCAR spending time at a wide variety of tracks over the years. Most recently, they competed at Chicagoland Speedway as the intermediate track came back from the dead.
The 2023-25 seasons featured NASCAR teams spending the holiday on the streets of Chicago. Before that, they spent two seasons at Road America (2021-22) and one at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (2020).
Of course, Daytona International Speedway is the track most associated with the Fourth of July weekend. This track hosted Cup Series races on the holiday from 1959 until 1997.
The 1998 season did not have a race on the holiday weekend, but Daytona served as the host once again from 1999 until 2019. The superspeedway has since served as the regular-season finale.
