The short track inside a football stadium will host the Craftsman Truck Series during the 2027 season, marking a major moment in the sport's history. This will be the first time that the drivers in this series compete at Bowman Gray Stadium.

This short track battle will take place on Friday, Aug. 20, 2027. It will kick off the weekend in which the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and Cup Series teams compete at World Wide Technology Raceway outside of St. Louis, Missouri.

"Bringing the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to Bowman Gray Stadium for the first time is an incredibly exciting moment for this historic facility and for our fans," said Clay Campbell, President of Martinsville Speedway and VP NASCAR Mid-Atlantic.

"Bowman Gray has always been about putting on unforgettable racing in front of some of the most passionate fans in the sport. We know the Trucks will put on an incredible show when they take on The Madhouse."

Bowman Gray Stadium has long hosted regional racing series, but it landed a spot on the NASCAR schedule ahead of the 2025 season. The exhibition Clash headed to the short track for the first time, and it kicked off the year.

Chase Elliott dominated the short track race as he led 171 of the 200 laps to kick off the year with an exhibition win. Ryan Preece then won the 2026 Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium, which took place three days later than expected due to a winter storm.

The Clash will head back to Daytona International Speedway in 2027. It will happen on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2027, the night before Super Bowl 61. This means that the Cup Series teams will not visit the short track in 2027.

The North Carolina fans will still have racing as the Craftsman Truck Series teams take on the track for the very first time.
