The NASCAR schedule continues to take shape with track announcements, including a secondary series finally returning to a historic venue after more than 30 years.

For the first time since 1985, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series will race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. The series will join the Craftsman Truck Series and the Cup Series during a historic weekend in May 2027.
The O'Reilly Series teams have only competed at North Wilkesboro Speedway four times (1983-85). Sam Ard won twice in that stretch while Tommy Ellis and Jack Ingram split the other two races.
The weekend will begin on Friday, May 21, 2027, with the Truck Series teams competing on the short track. The O'Reilly Auto Parts Series teams will then race on Saturday, May 22, 2027.
The Cup Series teams will close out the weekend with the return of the All-Star Race on Sunday, May 23, 2027. This event will mark the 35th anniversary of the famed "One Hot Night" All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"Four years ago, on the steps of the North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh, we announced what many believed was impossible — that NASCAR was returning to North Wilkesboro Speedway," said NASCAR Chief Operating Officer Ben Kennedy.
"Today, seeing this iconic venue host a historic NASCAR tripleheader weekend is a testament to just how extraordinary that revival has been. North Wilkesboro has once again become a place where NASCAR's rich history, current momentum and exciting future come together.
"We're incredibly proud of what this weekend represents—not only for this legendary track, but also for the community that helped bring it back and for the continued growth of our sport."
The Cup Series All-Star Race will serve as the headline event for the fans heading to the historic short track, but the O'Reilly Series race will draw particular attention. After all, these current O'Reilly cars are a far cry from those used during the mid-1980s.
