Mayer and Jeb Burton had multiple run-ins during last weekend's race at Martinsville Speedway. Mayer moved Burton out of the way on an early restart and then Burton responded by using the bump-and-run twice in the final stage.
The final incident occurred after the two drivers took the checkered flag in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Mayer sent Burton into the outside wall on the cooldown lap and wrecked the No. 27 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet.
According to the weekly penalty report, the Haas Factory Team driver violated Sections 4.4.B: NASCAR Member Code of Conduct of the NASCAR Rule Book. As a result, he will miss the Xfinity Series finale at Phoenix. He will be eligible to return to the team next season at Daytona International Speedway.

"Having (that) type of incident after the checkered flag, it's just not something we're going to tolerate," Elton Sawyer, NASCAR senior vice president of competition, said Tuesday morning on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "We'll get with our team today, discuss it, and see what the next steps are."
Haas Factory Team responded to the suspension with a statement on social media. The team noted that it will not appeal this penalty.
"Although we are disappointed with the results, Haas Factory Team will not appeal the penalty NASCAR issued to Sam Mayer and the No. 41 team following last weekend's race at Martinsville Speedway," the statement said.
"We remain focused on finishing the season out strong at Phoenix Raceway and look forward to contending for a race win with Ryan Sieg at the wheel."
NASCAR also penalized Rick Ware Racing for an infraction in Sunday's Cup Series race. The No. 51 of Cody Ware lost a wheel out on the track and brought out the caution. NASCAR held Ware for two laps during the race as part of the penalty. This infraction also results in the suspension of two crew members.
The penalty report stated that jackman De'Quan Hampton and rear-tire changer Marquill Osborne will miss Sunday's Cup Series race at Phoenix Raceway and the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium next February.
