NASCAR.com broke the news on Wednesday evening after getting confirmation from the historic team. Wood Brothers Racing will have Miles Stanley on the shelf due to personal reasons. This does not mean that he is leaving Josh Berry and the No. 21 team. He just will not be at Kansas Speedway.

Matt Swiderski will step in for the weekend. The man who is the current performance engineer director will be atop the No. 21 pit box as Berry makes his sixth Cup start at the intermediate track. His best finish in five starts is sixth in the 2025 spring race.

Stanley has been the crew chief for Berry since he took over the No. 21 in 2025. The team has celebrated one win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and has posted 10 top-10 finishes and three top-fives. Berry is currently 25th in the Cup Series standings.

Swiderski, AKA Squid, is no stranger to the role of crew chief. He spent five years atop the pit box at the Cup Series level while working with multiple teams and drivers.

Squid has been a crew chief for 202 total races — 150 in the Cup Series and 52 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. He spent three of his Cup Series seasons with Kaulig Racing (2021-2023), and he celebrated two wins with AJ Allmendinger. They won at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in 2021 and then at the Charlotte Roval in 2023.

Squid then moved to Trackhouse Racing in 2024 to work with Daniel Suarez and the No. 99 team. He remained in this role for two seasons and experienced mixed results. The No. 99 team celebrated a win at EchoPark Speedway in 2024, which put them into the playoffs. They ended the season 12th in the Cup Series standings.

The 2025 season, Suarez's last with Trackhouse Racing, featured less success. The entire organization struggled with speed, but both Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen won races. Suarez went winless while posting seven top-10 finishes and two top-fives. He and Squid both departed the organization after the season finale at Phoenix Raceway.
