According to a Wednesday announcement, Andy Street will take over as crew chief for the final five races of the 2025 NASCAR season. He will guide the No. 8 team at the Charlotte Roval, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Talladega Superspeedway, Martinsville Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway as Randall Burnett moves into a support role.

Burnett will depart Richard Childress Racing at the end of the season. He will move to Trackhouse Racing in 2026 to guide Connor Zilisch through his rookie season and beyond. Richard Childress Racing has not announced who will take over the No. 8 team in 2026.

This move takes place as Busch moves closer to his second consecutive winless Cup Series season. The two-time champion, who holds the record for the most consecutive seasons with a win, has not won a Cup Series race since June 4, 2023. He only has seven top-five finishes and 18 top-10s since the start of the 2024 season.

Street is a familiar face at Richard Childress Racing, primarily on the Xfinity Series side of the operation. He has been atop the pit box for 167 races, which includes one full season with Myatt Snider and three full seasons with Austin Hill.

Street celebrated 11 wins in NASCAR's secondary series. He guided Snider to the win at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2021 and Hill to 10 wins across three seasons. This includes three consecutive season-opening races at Daytona International Speedway.

Richard Childress Racing made a change ahead of this season. The organization announced that Street would no longer serve as the crew chief of the No. 21 team after he received a promotion. Instead, Chad Haney would work with Hill.

"Andy Street brings a wealth of knowledge to our NASCAR Cup Series program as we continue to evaluate ways to build a deeper bench and promote from within," said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, in a December 2024 statement.

"This move gives Andy the chance to gain Next Gen experience and have a bigger opportunity on the Cup side while still contributing to our Xfinity Series program and working with our alliance partners."

Street has still spent time on top of the pit box this season. He has guided the No. 33 part-time Cup Series team in seven races while working with Hill and Jesse Love. This group's best finish was ninth place on the streets of Chicago.
