RFK Racing Honors Greg Biffle With 3 Tribute Schemes

NASCAR no longer officially recognizes Throwback Weekend, but that won't keep RFK Racing from honoring Greg Biffle. The team will pay tribute to him with three schemes at Darlington Raceway.

Biffle, a longtime driver for team owner Jack Roush, passed away along with six other people in a December plane crash in Statesville, North Carolina.

RFK Racing previously honored Biffle during the Daytona 500 by using the door number font that he made iconic during his racing career. Now, the team will have three schemes highlighting important moments in his career.

The No. 6 Ford Mustang driven by Brad Keselowski will have a white, green, and yellow Solomon Plumbing scheme. This replicated a scheme that Biffle used throughout his career as he became one of NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers.

The No. 17 Ford Mustang driven by Chris Buescher will have a blue and white Fifth Third Bank scheme. This scheme particularly channels the 2011 race weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and Biffle's pole win.

The No. 60 Ford Mustang driven by Ryan Preece will have a white, black, red, and yellow scheme with logos for Kroger, Heinz, and Oscar Mayer. This scheme was Biffle's primary during the 2009 season. He also used this scheme while winning races in other seasons.

"The memory of Greg Biffle's adventurous spirit, his fun-loving personality, and his endearing appreciation for his fans will forever be remembered and embraced by the NASCAR community," said Team President Chip Bowers.

"The three selected throwback color schemes showcased humbly by the No. 6, No. 17 and No. 60, represent incredible moments in Greg's storied career and offer fans, friends, and family alike an opportunity to reflect on the man and the competitor that we'll forever remember with fondness and reverence. Darlington Raceway, one of Greg's favorite track, serves as the perfect backdrop for all to relive his indelible impact on sport."

The schemes are only one part of the planned tributes. The fans will stand and salute the longtime racer on Lap 16 of the Cup Series race. They can also sign a commemorative hood in the Fan Zone, which will then move into the Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum.

RFk Racing will also sell a limited edition T-shirt featuring all three tribute schemes. Portions of the proceeds will go to The Biffle Family Legacy Impact Fund.
