NASCAR's winningest owner purchased a 1979 Porsche 911 SC during the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction. He paid $100,000 for the classic Porsche, and he made a considerable impact on a deserving organization.

According to Barrett-Jackson, 100% of the proceeds from this auction will go to the Space Coast Honor Flight Network. This organization transports veterans to Washington D.C. so they can visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifices.

Hendrick's new Porsche 911 SC features a 3.0-liter flat-six engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. This engine produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. It features a five-speed manual transmission. The Porsche has 40,804 actual miles.

The color scheme is not the classic red associated with many Porsche models from that era. Instead, it features a black exterior, black interior, and black wheels.

This particular year of Porsche 911 has some significance to historians. It is the last 911 that did not have any "Carrera" badging.

The Porsche will now join a massive collection featuring hundreds of vehicles. Hendrick has a love of cars, particularly Corvettes, and he collects them en masse.

According to the Detroit Free Press, his collection includes 122 Corvettes, many of which hail from 1967. He also has many Camaros, including some that played roles in the Transformers movie franchise.

Hendrick also has race cars from his father's career, a 2023 Ferrari SF90 Spider, several Porsche models, and a tribute to his late son Ricky. He even has emergency services vehicles sitting in front of a special display in Concord, North Carolina.

Hendrick is not the only NASCAR figure who spent some time at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction.

Kyle and Samantha Busch parted ways with a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible and a 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air custom coupe while receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars. Part of the proceeds went to their Bundle of Joy Fund to support infertility education and awareness.
