The Naval Base Coronado starting lineup will feature Shane van Gisbergen at the front of the pack. He has won the pole for Sunday's Cup Series race (4 p.m. ET on Prime Video).

Van Gisbergen posted the fastest lap of the session at 134.788 seconds. He hit the wall two times and said that he was pissed off at himself, but he still lined up where the other competitors expected.
This marks the sixth career pole win for the New Zealand native. This is his second pole win this season and his first since Watkins Glen International.

Carson Hocevar qualified second with a lap of 134.944 seconds. This is his third front row start of the season. He won the pole at Texas Motor Speedway and started second at Michigan International Speedway.
The rest of the top 10 included Ryan Blaney (135.048), Zane Smith (135.391), Todd Gilliland (135.395), Daniel Suarez (135.433), Ryan Preece (135.483), Connor Zilisch (135.883), Michael McDowell (135.928), and Austin Hill (135.959).
Ty Gibbs qualified 11th as the fastest Toyota driver in the field. He posted a lap of 136.150 seconds despite running into an obstacle in the form of teammate Denny Hamlin. This prompted an angry outburst over the radio from Gibbs.
Tyler Reddick, the current points leader, qualified 17th with a lap of 136.665 seconds despite having multiple issues during the session. He missed the chicane on one lap and had to come to a complete stop.
He also spun entering Turn 2. He avoided hitting the tire packs, but he ended up nosed against the wall.
Former Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen, making his first-ever start in a stock car, qualified 21st. He posted a lap of 137.271 seconds. This marked a major improvement over Friday's practice session in which he hit the wall two times.

Jimmie Johnson, making the penultimate start of his NASCAR Cup Series career, qualified 36th with a lap of 142.358 seconds. He had an issue early in the session as he locked up his tires entering Turn 2. Although he avoided contact with the tire barrier.
The Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado will take place on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET. Prime Video will broadcast the race while closing out its portion of the season. Adam Alexander, Steve Letarte, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be in the booth. Kim Coon, Marty Snider, and Trevor Bayne will roam pit road.
The pre- and post-race show will feature Danielle Trotta hosting alongside Corey LaJoie. NASCAR Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon will join as a special guest.
