Spire Motorsports Hires Doug Duchardt as New President

It has been a very busy offseason for Spire Motorsports, as they have quickly gained plenty of confidence on several fronts heading into 2024.

It all started before the 2023 season ended when it purchased a third charter to become a three-car team in the NASCAR Cup Series. It then re-signed Corey Lajoie to continue to drive the No. 7 Chevrolet, before adding Carson Hocevar in the No. 77 and a new third car for Zane Smith with backing from Trackhouse Racing.

Spire isn't done making big moves, as they have now hired Doug Duchardt as the team's next president. Duchardt is no stranger to the NASCAR garage, as he has previously worked for Chip Ganassi Racing and Hendrick Motorsports.

That makes him a huge addition for a Chevy team looking to make bigger strides in their fourth full-time season.

Spire has been making expansion a priority, besides buying a third charter from Live Fast Motorsports, they have also positioned themselves as the top Chevy Craftsman Truck Series team after buying Kyle Busch Motorsports, including the entire building and fabricating aspect of the organization.

This all comes on the heels of major sponsorships coming aboard, including Group 1001 subsidiary, Gainbridge, making a major investment in the team.

Team co-owner Jeff Dickerson had plenty to say about the addition of Duchardt to Spire in the team's official press release announcing his hiring.

"As Spire Motorsports continues to grow, it's important to add impactful personnel at every level," Dickerson said. "I've known and had a close personal relationship with Doug Duchardt for nearly 20 years. Doug's resume and body work speaks for itself. Having him on staff raises our competitive bar immediately. He brings a results-based work ethic to our team that will pay immediate dividends. Our expectations for the impact his presence will make across our entire organization cannot be overstated. He has a rich history with General Motors which has resulted in close and deep personal relationships at the manufacturer level and positions him firmly at the intersection of our crucial relationships with both Hendrick Motorsports and Trackhouse Racing."

With Duchardt now aboard and plenty of youthful talent in their cars, it's fair to say that Spire Motorsports is here to stay and could be pushing for wins sooner rather than later.
