According to a Friday announcement, the California native will take over the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro in five races. The team will reveal the exact dates in the future. This marks Custer's first start in the secondary series since 2024 when he finished second in the championship standings.

Custer joins an expanding lineup at SS GreenLight Racing. He will share the No. 0 with Alex Labbe, who makes five road course starts, and anchor driver Garrett Smithley.

"Having Cole back in our car is an honor, we've been lucky to share success and we hope to have more this season," team owner Bobby Dotter said in a press release.

"We are stepping up our program this year with lease motors and new personnel and Cole will be a big part of that effort."

Custer last drove for the Dotter-owned O'Reilly Auto Parts Series team during the 2022 season. He made five starts in the No. 07 Ford Mustang, and he delivered some big moments.

Custer won SS GreenLight Racing's first race at California Speedway after leading nearly half of the laps. He then closed out his schedule with starts at Circuit of the Americas, Road America, Pocono Raceway, and Watkins Glen International. He finished third at Circuit of the Americas and 10th at Pocono Raceway.

Custer is paticularly accomplished in the secondary NASCAR series. He has made 176 starts and finished top 10 in 119 of them. He has celebrated 15 wins and won a championship (2023). He also finished second in the championship standings in 2018, 2019, and 2024.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to return to the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and compete with SS GreenLight Racing and Chevrolet," Custer said.

"I'm really looking forward to working with Bobby and the entire team over these five races. Our goal is to have strong runs every time we unload and put ourselves in position to race for wins and get to Victory Lane."
