After a strong three-year run, the Superstar Racing Experience, or SRX Series, postponed its 2024 season.
Tony Stewart, one of the founding members and the inaugural champion of the series, has faced plenty of criticism from fans since the announcement that SRX would not run this year.
The postponement of the SRX comes on the heels of Stewart selling his All-Star Sprint Car Series to Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet's High Limit Series, and the fact that Stewart will be busy racing his wife Leah Pruett's Top Fuel Dragster as she steps away to start their family.
This has also had fans talking about Stewart, and how he doesn't seem to care about stock car racing anymore. It had even gotten to a point where some were speculating about the future of his NASCAR team, Stewart-Haas Racing.
Stewart appeared on the Hot Rod Pod on the MotorTrend Channel not long after the SRX news was made official to talk about the major changes going on with himself and where his priorities have to be.
"My life's taken twists and turns and you just start writing everything on a piece of paper of what you're doing it's like, well ... I don't have any more room on my plate," Stewart said. "And two NHRA drag racing teams on top of that. So, at some point, you go, 'I've got to start taking stress out of my life, I don't have time for all of this.'"
That was the point in the conversation where he had a strong message for the fans and the critics.
"I read something after our (SRX) announcement yesterday, some know-it-all on the internet said, 'Well, that's it. SHR's over, shut the doors down now.' I don't make calls on the car anyway," Stewart said. "It's not going to change; it's not changing one thing we're doing in North Carolina. No different than it's not changing what we're doing with the sprint car, it's not changing what we're doing with Eldora Speedway. So, people who have that mindset are dumb***es, they're idiots. They don't know what they're talking about."
Tony Stewart doesn't have time for the online warriors, as Fox Sports Mike Joy famously tabbed them. While SRX might be done, SHR isn't going anywhere and the is focused on being much stronger in 2024, no matter what critics say.
