Justin Marks' team announced the news on Wednesday morning and revealed the next guest driver to take over the No. 91 Chevrolet Camaro. Kevin Magnussen will drive the entry during the race weekend on Naval Base Coronado in San Diego, California.
Phil Surgen, who previously served as Ross Chastain's crew chief, will lead the No. 91 team on June 20-21. Qualcomm Incorporated will serve as the primary sponsor.
Magnussen, a native of Denmark, has extensive experience competing on courses with left and right turns. He has competed in 185 Formula 1 Grands Prix while driving for McLaren, Renault, and Haas. His podium finish took place in his first-ever start, the 2014 Australian Grand Prix.
Magnussen now competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in the hypercar class while working as a factory driver for BMW.

"I'm incredibly excited and honored to have the opportunity to compete in NASCAR," said Magnussen. "What Justin Marks and Trackhouse have done with Project91 is unique. To provide drivers from outside of the NASCAR world with a chance to compete at this level. I'm proud to have this opportunity.
"I've already spent time with the team in North Carolina - meeting everyone, doing the seat fit, going through pit stop procedures and all the details that come with preparing for a NASCAR weekend. They're an awesome group of people, incredibly dedicated, and just as excited about this debut as I am. I really can't wait to get to San Diego and experience it all for the first time."
The Project91 entry has been an important part of Trackhouse Racing's history, especially considering how it changed the Cup Series landscape.
This entry started as an opportunity for Trackhouse Racing to bring international stars into NASCAR for one-off starts. Former Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen served as the first test subject, for lack of a better term. He drove the No. 91 at Watkins Glen International in 2022 and Circuit of the Americas in 2023.
The team then welcomed three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen into the fold. He controlled the entry during the inaugural Cup Series race on the streets of Chicago in 2023, and he made a major splash.
He qualified third for his first-ever Cup race, and he beat the best in the field to score his first career win. Van Gisbergen returned later in the season for a start at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, which paved the way for his full-time move to NASCAR.
The Project91 car went on the shelf in 2024 as Trackhouse Racing focused on fielding three full-time entries. However, the entry then returned for the 2025 Daytona 500 so that four-time Indianapolis 500 champion Helio Castroneves could make his Cup Series debut.
