According to a Friday announcement, the Tennessee native will take over the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra. He will control the entry at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 11. This will mark his first start for Sam Hunt Racing and the 165th of his career.

"It's always exciting to bring in an experienced driver that has competed at the Cup level," team owner Sam Hunt said. "Trevor not only understands where we are as a team; but wants to be a part of our team's growth process.

"He's a great guy and will be a great teammate for Dean (Thompson) to lean on. We are all excited to get on track together."

A former Daytona 500 winner, Bayne made his Xfinity Series debut in 2009 driving for team owner Jimmy Means. He then moved to Michael Waltrip Racing, where he remained through the 2010 season.

Bayne joined RFK Racing in 2011 to compete in both the Xfinity and Cup Series. He scored his first Cup win in the Daytona 500 and then he scored his first Xfinity win later that season at Texas Motor Speedway.

Bayne last visited victory lane in the secondary series in 2013. He won at Iowa Speedway while competing full-time in the No. 6 Ford. He ended that season sixth in the championship standings.

The veteran driver lost competed in the Xfinity Series while driving for Joe Gibbs Racing. He made nine starts in 2022 and three in 2023. He posted eight top-10 finishes and five top-fives while driving for the championship-winning team. This includes a top-five finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Bayne has performed consistently in his six Xfinity starts at the Nevada track. He has never finished worse than eighth in six starts, and he has posted four top-five finishes. He will now have an opportunity to add to this stat line as he teams up with Sam Hunt Racing.
