The upcoming NASCAR-themed drama Thunder Road starring Dennis Quaid has now landed another big name. Maggie Grace has joined the cast of the show.

According to Deadline, Grace is the latest series regular for the upcoming AMC show. She joins a group that also includes Quaid, Chase Stokes, Michael Rooker and Matt Barr.
Grace (Fear the Walking Dead, Taken) will play Lucy Whitlock, the oldest daughter of "The Wrecking Ball" Duane Whitlock (Quaid). Duane is the man who "built a racing empire from a legacy of moonshine runs and dirt tracks and refuses to let it die." Lucy is the person who will likely fight to keep the racing empire running.
"I made friends for life on Fear The Walking Dead," she said, per Deadline. "I look forward to getting back in the saddle with AMC's unique brand of storytelling, and to working with (showrunner) Taylor Elmore again."
Thunder Road became public knowledge in November 2025. Deadline reported at the time that AMC was working with screenwriter John Fusco and NASCAR to fast-track a drama series based on stock car racing.
Quaid became attached to the project in April 2026 and then AMC officially greenlit Thunder Road later that month. It will go into production this summer with a scheduled release date in 2027. It will air on AMC and on the AMC+ streaming service.
Fusco will be the creator and executive producer of the project. Taylor Elmore (Justified, Tulsa King) will serve as showrunner/executive producer.
Other executive producers include Cliff Roberts (Untamed), Mark L. Smith (Untamed, The Revenant, American Primeval), as well as NASCAR Studio's Tim Clark and John Dahl (The Last Dance). Gladys Cheng joins as a producer.
More casting details will become public knowledge as the production ramps up this year. For now, NASCAR fans will continue to watch the rest of the 2026 regular season and The Chase that determines the season champion in the three national series.
