The FIA World Rally Championship announced the news on Thursday but did not provide the location of this United States rally, which will take place on Aug. 26-29, 2027. However, the FIA noted that this is a growth opportunity in a country where rally interest continues to rise.
The WRC previously held a candidate event in Kentucky and Tennessee while examining a path to bring the series back to the United States.
The trial event took place in June in collaboration with the Automobile Competition Committee of the United States (ACCUS). FIA delegates evaluated the entire event while looking at sporting operations, safety, infrastructure, and event promotion.

The only time the FIA WRC competed in the U.S. was 1988. The Olympus Rally took place in Tacoma, Washington, as competitors raced on a gravel course. Miki Biasion and co-driver Tiziano Siviero captured the win in their Lancia.
WRC is the top rally racing series in the world. It tests drivers and teams in a variety of landscapes, including snow and sand. This season's schedule had 13 rounds, but 2027's schedule will feature 15 as both the United States and the United Kingdom join the lineup.
The lineup of events will take the teams to Monaco, Sweden, Kenya, Croatia, Spain, Japan, Greece, Italy, Estonia, Finland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Paraguay, Chile, and Saudi Arabia.
"2027 represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the World Rally Championship, and this calendar reflects our ambition to build a stronger, more accessible and truly global championship," said Eric Boullier, CEO of WRC Promoter.
"Returning to the United States and United Kingdom, alongside bringing the WRC to an iconic destination such as Rome, creates tremendous opportunities for our manufacturers, commercial partners and fans.
"Combined with the introduction of new technical regulations, we have a unique opportunity to shape the future of the WRC, attract new investment and bring the excitement of rallying to more people around the world."
