Born in 1946 in Wolverhampton, England, Price made his speedway debut in the late-1960s. He first signed to the Wolverhampton Wolves, but he made his competitive debut for the Nelson Admirals. He also rode for the Crayford Kestrels while on loan from the Wolves.

Price competed on motorcycles between 1968-81 while riding for multiple teams. This includes such outfits as the Nottingham Outlaws, Workington Comets, and the Scunthorpe Stags.

Price achieved the most success in 1973 as the won the Second Division Riders Champion. He also helped the Boston Barracudas win the Spring Gold Cup, the British League Division Two KO Cup, and the British League Division Two championship.

"Sad to hear that a much respected and old adversary, Arthur Price passed away yesterday," the inactive Hull Vikings speedway team wrote on Facebook.

"Great battles, great memories. (blue heart emoji) Sending our condolences to his family and friends."

The passing of Price continues a trend in the motorsports world. Many competitors have passed away over the past calendar year, some due to disease and others due to unnatural causes.

For example, championship contending WRC driver Alex Fiorio passed away mere days ago at the age of 61. The Italian racer had recently revealed that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch passed away on May 21 at the age of 41. He had "severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications."

Marc Van der Straten, a multi-time championship-winning team owner in multiple racing series, passed away this summer at the age of 78. He passed away peacefully at his home in Switzerland on July 5.

Robbie Francevic, the first non-Australian to win the championship in what is now the Repco Supercars Championship, passed away in July at the age of 84.
