The team made the announcement in a press release focused on competition changes. Richard Childress Racing said that crew chief Andy Street has received a promotion. He will move up to the Cup Series to be the crew chief for a third car featuring multiple drivers. He will also be a crew chief for a limited number of Xfinity Series races.

Richard Childress Racing did not provide details about the drivers who will control this third entry.

"Andy Street brings a wealth of knowledge to our NASCAR Cup Series program as we continue to evaluate ways to build a deeper bench and promote from within," said Richard Childress, Chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing, in a statement.

"This move gives Andy the chance to gain Next Gen experience and have a bigger opportunity on the Cup side while still contributing to our Xfinity Series program and working with our alliance partners."

Richard Childress Racing has showcased multiple guest drivers over the last few seasons. Austin Hill, who spent the last three Xfinity seasons with Street, is a fitting example. He made five Cup starts for RCR.

Ty Dillon made one Cup start for the team at Indianapolis Motor Speedway while Supercars drivers Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki joined RCR at Sonoma Raceway and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, respectively.

Brown has already confirmed that he has some plans in place to return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025. He said on the Supercars "Drivers Only" podcast that he would "hopefully" do two races. However, Brown clarified that the second race depended on the car's availability.

"I guess Chicago's one I want to do," Brown said. "But a lot of the guys over there want to do it, so if a car's available, a team's available. So waiting to hear on that one.

"That'd be awesome if I could try to do that, but I'd be happy to do Xfinity if I couldn't get that (Cup car)."

The reigning Supercars champ did not name the team that he would join as a guest in 2025, but RCR would make sense considering the existing relationship and the team's stated goal of fielding a third entry in multiple races.
