The 2008 cult classic from the Wachowskis is coming back to theaters this month, with limited screenings set for the week of April 25 across more than 200 locations in the U.S. For a movie that didn't fully hit when it first dropped, this is the kind of comeback fans have been waiting on.

And it doesn't stop there.

A fully remastered 4K version is also on the way, hitting digital platforms and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray on May 19. Pre-orders are already live, with a steelbook edition and a stack of bonus features included.

This one's built for a rewatch.

Speed Racer, based on the classic anime series of the same name, has always been a different kind of movie. Loud. Bright. Over the top. It leans all the way into its anime roots and never backs off. That's part of why it didn't land for everyone back in 2008.

But over time, the reputation changed. Now it's viewed as a cult favorite, a visual swing that actually connected with audiences who gave it another shot.

The cast holds up, too: Emile Hirsch in the lead, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Susan Sarandon, and Matthew Fox. It's a lineup that fits the energy of the film. And the racing scenes still stand out.

If you've never seen it on the big screen, this is the chance.

If you have, you already know. It's not subtle. It's not quiet.

But that's exactly the point.
