Comcast announced a renewal of its decade-long partnership with NASCAR on Feb. 4. This deal, according to the press release, keeps Comcast in its role as a premier partner for multiple seasons. However, the company will only be the title sponsor of the Xfinity Series through 2025.
As the Sports Business Journal reported on Feb. 4, NASCAR will begin seeking a new title sponsor for its second-tier series. The extension with Comcast and Xfinity provided some extra time to find this partner.
"NASCAR is incredibly appreciative of Comcast's continued partnership and their commitment to innovation and fan engagement within our sport," said Michelle Byron, Executive Vice President and Chief Partnership and Licensing Officer at NASCAR, in a press release.
"Their contributions over the past decade, from enhancing the fan experience to supporting community initiatives, have been invaluable. We look forward to building on the success of our partnership during the 2025 season and beyond."
While the Cup Series ditched title sponsors after the 2019 season, the lower classes have continued to serve as platforms for companies to reach new audiences. For example, the Truck Series has featured Camping World, Gander Outdoors, and Craftsman as title sponsors.
The Xfinity Series has featured even more partners. It started as the Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series in 1982 but switched to the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series in 1984. It continued operating under this name until the 2002 season. Greg Biffle was the final driver to win the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series title.
Starting in 2003, the series operated as the NASCAR Busch Series. Brian Vickers, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, and Carl Edwards all won titles during this era of racing.
The series underwent another change in 2008 as it switched to the NASCAR Nationwide Series. This title sponsorship continued through 2014 as Clint Bowyer, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Chase Elliott, and Austin Dillon all won titles.
Since 2015, the second-tier series has operated with Xfinity as the title sponsor. This will continue in 2025 but will change in 2026 as a new sponsor enters the fold.
