According to the preliminary investigation, the Chevrolet pickup had been parked in a space near the soccer fields before driving onto a field and striking multiple children and adults.
Police said the driver had one child playing soccer on another field at the complex. Two of her other children were inside the truck when the crash occurred. Authorities have not publicly identified the woman.
"Our officers and investigators will continue working to understand exactly what happened," Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said Sunday.
Investigators have interviewed more than 30 witnesses, including the driver and the two children who were with her in the pickup.
Authorities have not announced what caused the truck to enter the field. The driver's release came with the investigation still underway, and police said no charges had been filed.
