Ten others were injured in the crash at the Stryker Sports Complex. The 34-year-old woman who was driving the truck was released without charges Sunday while investigators await toxicology results and a mechanical examination of the vehicle, The Associated Press reported.

Police identified those killed as Cole Adrian, 6, and Nicholas Schafer, 35, both of McPherson, Kansas. They were not related, and both died at the scene.

The 10 people taken to area hospitals ranged in age from 5 to 68. Their injuries were described as non-serious.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Chevrolet pickup had been parked in a space near the soccer fields before driving onto a field and striking multiple children and adults.

Police said the driver had one child playing soccer on another field at the complex. Two of her other children were inside the truck when the crash occurred. Authorities have not publicly identified the woman.

"Our officers and investigators will continue working to understand exactly what happened," Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said Sunday.

Investigators have interviewed more than 30 witnesses, including the driver and the two children who were with her in the pickup.

Authorities have not announced what caused the truck to enter the field. The driver's release came with the investigation still underway, and police said no charges had been filed.
