Columbian Soccer President, Son Arrested Before Loss In Copa America Title Match

Soccer usually gives us some crazy stories about fans, but not often about team officials. Well, Columbian Soccer Federation president Ramon Jesurun seems to have changed all that.

Per reports, Jesurun, 71, and his son were arrested ahead of Columbia's 1-0 loss to Argentina in the Copa America championship match in Miami on Monday. It seems Jesurun and his son were attempting to enter the stadium when the incident occurred.

As relayed by John Simmons of Outkick: "Basically, what happened is Jesurún and his son, Ramón Jamil Jesurún (43), were both trying to get past security guards that were blocking a group of civilians. The officers were doing this because they needed to block the entrance to a tunnel that led to where media members gathered after the match ended."

Added Local 10 reporter Chris Gothner: "Both father and son 'became irate' at a guard and began 'shouting' at him, police said. The arrest report states the altercation became physical after a security guard asked the men, 'yelling in (the guard's) face,' to step back and placed a palm on the younger Jesurún's chest to 'guide him back.' That led the elder Jesurún to step forward and push the guard, police said. His son then followed up by grabbing the guard's neck and punching him, according to police."

Jesurun is facing three felony counts of battery on a specified officer, Simmons wrote. No bond has been set for Jesurun or his son as they were scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade bond court.

Columbia's 28-game streak of no losses was snapped in the Copa America match. Its last loss also came to Argentina.

So it's safe to say for Jesurun and his son, this soccer match was quite a kick in the crotch before it ever even got started.
