Cristiano Ronaldo says 2026-27 will "probably" be his last year playing professional soccer, revealing his plans almost casually during an interview with Vogue surrounding his wedding to longtime partner Georgina Rodríguez.

"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Ronaldo said.

Spectacular might be underselling what he's already accomplished.

Ronaldo, 41, has spent roughly a quarter-century playing professionally, starring for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus before eventually continuing his career in Saudi Arabia.

He also became the face of Portugal's national team and helped his country win the 2016 European Championship.

But Ronaldo sounds prepared for life after soccer.

"I have my future all mapped out," he told Vogue, explaining that he plans to spend more time with his family, travel, play padel and enjoy the life he's built after "25 years with a lot of sacrifice."

The comments came as Ronaldo and Rodríguez celebrated another major milestone.

The longtime couple married Aug. 11 in an intimate ceremony at their home in Portugal, exactly 10 years after they first met.

There wasn't much time for a honeymoon, either. Ronaldo was due back in Riyadh the following day with his season beginning Aug. 15.

If he's right about this being the end, every game suddenly means a little more.
