Former professional soccer player David McDermott, who became the youngest player ever to make his first-team debut for Walsall, has died. He was 38.

McDermott's death was announced this week, with several of his former soccer clubs paying tribute to the English winger.
A cause of death was not immediately announced.
"Everyone at York City Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player David McDermott," York City wrote in a statement. "We send all our love and support to David's friends and family at this immensely difficult time."
Walsall also offered its "deepest sympathies and condolences" to McDermott's family and friends.
Born in Stourbridge, England, McDermott came through Walsall's youth system and made history when he debuted for the senior team at just 16 years old in 2004.
His first appearance came in a League Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday.

McDermott remained with Walsall until 2008 before joining Kidderminster Harriers, where he spent two seasons.
He later signed with York City in 2010 after impressing during a trial and preseason. McDermott appeared in 21 games for York and scored his lone competitive goal for the club during a 2-0 victory over Southport.
His time at York was interrupted by a foot injury before he left the club in January 2012.
McDermott continued his career with several English clubs, including AFC Telford United, Stourbridge, Rushall Olympic and Worcester City.
Worcester was the final club of his playing career in 2014.
