The United States Women's National Team may not have won their second Women's World Cup match against the Netherlands, but team co-captain Lindsey Horan's highlight sequence helped kept their team in a strong position to advance out of the knockout stage.
During the second half, Horan was hip-checked by the Netherlands' Danielle van de Donk. The collision resulted in Horan lying on the pitch while being tended to by trainers for several minutes before ultimately getting back up.
A few moments later, Horan and van de Donk got into it while setting up for a corner, with the United States co-captain shoving the Netherlands player while continuing to jaw at her, leading to the referee having to get involved.
Immediately after the scuffle, Horan headed in a screaming goal off of the corner kick, tying the game at 1-1 in the 62nd minute. You can watch a video of the entire sequence of events courtesy of the FOX Soccer Twitter account.

USWNT Still A Work In Progress

That goal ended up helping the USWNT salvage a point out of the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The Americans sit on top of Group E thanks to goal differential over the Netherlands, but Portugal is close behind thanks to a 2-0 win over Vietnam.
The Americans haven't looked like their usual dominant selves through two matches of the Women's World Cup, but there have still been some highlight moments. The 22-year-old sensation Sophia Smith shined in her first match, scoring a brace against Vietnam in the 3-0 victory.
With one game remaining in the group stage, it will be up to the entire team to play to its full potential in order to advance to the knockout stage. The USWNT will take on Portugal at 3:00am ET on Tuesday, August 1, with a win guaranteeing them a place through the group stage.
