FIFA announced that Post Malone will headline the 2026 World Cup closing ceremony, taking the stage just before the tournament's championship match on Sunday at New York New Jersey Stadium.
The performance will begin about 90 minutes before kickoff, serving as the final celebration before the biggest match in international soccer.
According to FIFA, the show will celebrate the tournament's 39-day journey across the United States, Canada and Mexico while blending music, culture and the world's most popular sport on one stage.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino called the performance a fitting way to close out the expanded World Cup.
"At a time when sport, culture and global attention converge, Post Malone will deliver a performance designed to celebrate the tournament's journey and ignite the atmosphere before the world's attention turns to the two finalists," Infantino said.
Post Malone enters the event as one of the biggest names in music.
The nine-time diamond-certified artist has produced a string of massive hits, including "Circles," "Sunflower," "Rockstar," "Congratulations" and "White Iverson." He also recently topped the charts with his country album, F-1 Trillion, showing once again his ability to cross musical genres.
Fans attending the World Cup final are being encouraged to arrive early, with stadium gates opening several hours before kickoff. In addition to Post Malone's performance, FIFA says the pregame festivities will include soccer fan experiences and entertainment leading into the championship match.
With the World Cup trophy on the line and one of music's biggest stars opening the show, Sunday's finale promises to be one of the biggest sports and entertainment events of the year.
