WAFB in Baton Rouge reported that Boutte has an arrest warrant after placing more than 9,000 bets, with some of those being placed on the Tigers while he was still playing for LSU. According to the report, Boutte won more than $500,000 while betting under an account with a fictional name while under the age of 21 years old, before the legal gambling age in Louisiana.

LSU released a statement following the arrest warrant.
"In July 2023, LSU was made aware of allegations regarding a former student-athlete's improper conduct related to sports gambling while enrolled at the University," the statement read. "Since then, we have fully cooperated with all relevant authorities involved in the investigation and will continue to do so. We have no evidence that any other student-athletes participated in these prohibited activities, and we are grateful for measures that detect and discourage sports gambling related misconduct."
On3's Pete Nakos posted to X that Boutte had placed a parlay betting on himself to record more than 82.5 passing yards and a touchdown, but he didn't hit on either leg.
Kayshon Boutte bet he would score a touchdown and rack up 82.5 yards against Florida State on Sept. 4, 2022. Part of an eight-leg parlay.

Boutte was a prominent weapon for LSU during his three seasons with the program. He finished his college career with 131 receptions for 1,782 yards, and 16 touchdowns.
Despite a productive college career, Boutte's time in LSU ended on a sour note under new head coach Brian Kelly. Along with a down year from a production standpoint, rumors surfaced around the team's bowl game about a potential scandal that ultimately led to him declaring for the NFL draft after initially planning on returning to school.
Boutte was taken in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He finished the 2023 season with only two receptions for 19 yards.
