Clarke Hansen, a veteran broadcaster best known for his coverage of Australian rules football, has died. He was 84.

Hansen died April 30, according to reports.
He spent decades on the air with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where he covered a range of sports, including tennis, the Olympic Games and the Australian Football League. His voice became closely associated with AFL coverage during a career that spanned more than 30 years.
In recognition of his contributions, Hansen was inducted into the Melbourne Cricket Ground Media Hall of Fame in 2011.
Hansen began his broadcasting career in 1965 as one of the original newsreaders at NRN Channel 10 in Coffs Harbour. Two years later, he joined the ABC in Victoria, where he would go on to establish himself as a respected presence in Australian sports media.
He was the father of Ashley Hansen, a former AFL player with the West Coast Eagles who later became a coach and broadcaster.
Throughout his career, Hansen was known for his steady delivery and deep knowledge of the sports he covered, particularly Australian rules football.
