A familiar face to fishing fans is back on dry land and recovering.

Dan Hernandez, the longtime host of Sport Fishing with Dan Hernandez, is on the mend after undergoing emergency surgery earlier this week.
Hernandez shared the news himself, posting that he checked into the emergency room and was quickly told surgery was necessary. He did not provide specifics about the health issue but made it clear it required immediate attention.
"I could use your prayers and support one more time," he wrote, thanking fans who have followed his decades-long run on television.
The good news came shortly after.
Hernandez later updated that the procedure "went well," and doctors advised him to take it easy for a bit. The response from fans was significant. He said he received nearly 1,000 messages offering support.
That clearly meant something.
"It means a lot to me to know I have impacted so many lives," he wrote, reflecting on his 40 years in the business. He also noted that this was not his first recent health hurdle, having undergone another surgery in March. Not exactly how he planned it.
Still, Hernandez appears to be trending in the right direction. He has already shared videos back near the water and is looking ahead to filming a new season this month.
Until then, it is rest, recovery, and a reminder that even the most seasoned captains sometimes have to slow down.
