Craig Carton is headed back to WFAN. The longtime New York radio star is finalizing a deal to return to the station next month for a third stint, according to a report from The Athletic.

Not sure what to wear to work today. It’s been a long time. Was thinking maybe this pic.twitter.com/hWEJjcnc8f

This time, Carton is expected to take over the afternoon drive slot, reshuffling nearly the entire weekday lineup in the process.
Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber, who currently anchor the 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. window, will reportedly shift to middays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Overnight host Chris McMonigle is viewed as a strong candidate to join Carton in afternoons. The current midday team of Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata is expected to be broken up, per the report.
Licata may slide into the nighttime slot left open by Keith McPherson's departure. Tierney could be the odd man out.
Carton, 56, left WFAN two and a half years ago to work full-time on FS1's "The Carton Show." That program shifted into "Breakfast Ball" in August 2024 with Carton as host, but it was canceled less than a year later.
The Athletic reported at the time that a WFAN return was possible, and Licata even addressed it on the air over the summer.
"I'm not worried about Craigy coming back," Licata said on his show with Tierney in July. "He can come back all he wants. He's not taking my spot."
Carton first joined WFAN in 2007 alongside Boomer Esiason, building one of the station's most successful morning shows. His run ended in 2017 after he was arrested on fraud charges tied to a ticket-resale scam used to pay off gambling debts.
He was sentenced to three and a half years in prison, served time starting in 2019, and was released early in 2020. That paved the way for his first return to WFAN, where he teamed with Roberts in afternoon drive.
And now, it looks like Carton is coming back once again.
