The Blind Side actor told TMZ that doctors have removed his tracheal tube following the spinal stroke he suffered earlier this year. He's now being evaluated for a move out of the ICU.
That's a meaningful step in his recovery. Aaron, who portrayed football player Michael Oher in The Blind Side, said he's back to speaking, drinking fluids, and even doing some light singing as he continues to regain strength.
He also addressed some personal matters that surfaced during his hospitalization, saying his focus now is on his health and moving forward without added distractions.
Aaron described the experience as life-changing, crediting family and close friends for helping him through the most difficult stretch.
Recovery is still ongoing.
He is continuing to raise funds through his official GoFundMe to help cover long-term medical costs as he works toward getting back to normal.
"Celebrity, philanthropist and phenomenal actor Quinton Aaron is currently in the intensive care unit, recovering from a spinal stroke," the GoFundMe reads. "As a close friend and the family spokesperson, I am reaching out to ask for your support during this challenging time. While Quinton is making progress every day, his recovery journey comes with immediate needs that are not fully covered by other support systems."
