Five-star recruit and the No. 2 overall running back Cam Akers shocked the recruiting world and landed at Florida State less than a week ago, but apparently the decision was tougher than many thought initially.

While speaking to SEC Country, Akers explained that the race was truly down to LSU, not hometown Ole Miss, and Florida State:
"If it was a 40 time, Florida State hit the 40 in 4.41 (seconds)," Akers told SEC Country after first day of Army All-American Bowl practices in San Antonio.
"LSU hit it at a 4.42."
Of course LSU has Derrius Guice to take over for the recently NFL departing Leonard Fournette, so they're not in horrible shape. But certainly missing out on Akers by that close of a margin hurts.
It should hurt Ole Miss more, as it sounds like the Rebels weren't even really in the finally running, but rather with Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee on the second tier.
