Royce West, a Texas state senator, has upped the ante on his lawsuit against Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant for what he said were damages done to his rental property.
Originally, West was seeking between $100,000 and $200,000 for said damages, which included the house being "littered with trash and feces, missing blinds and shutters, with cracked windows and blackened carpeting" after Bryant moved out in January. West lawyers say Bryant "refuses to accept responsibility for the damage," according to the Dallas Morning News, and now the figure West is suing for has raised to over $500,000.
West wants Bryant—-who countersued to have the claims dismissed—-to reimburse him for the legal fees he incurred as a result of Bryant's counterclaim and for him to donate $500,000 to the United Negro College Fund as "punishment", according to Pro Football Talk.
Bryant's counterclaim was based on allegations that West "absconded" with more than $200,000 in money owed to Bryant from endorsement deals and other agreements, and that West received more than $300,000 in compensation while he "simultaneously was breaching his fiduciary duties and other obligations to Bryant," according to Pro Football Talk.
Due to the damages, West had to repaint the property, clean or replace the flooring and replace doors and windows, totalling $61,546.77 worth of damages.
