Auburn commit says Tigers are 'winning the state' in recruiting

And hopefully the Tigers can keep momentum.

The Auburn Tigers are having a pretty good recruiting year in the state of Alabama even with the Crimson Tide competing against them. The Tigers were able to nab the commitment of Malcolm Askew who was a big target for Alabama as well.

Askew is convinced that the Tigers are recruiting very well in the state and are a force to be reckoned with going forward.

"We're going to try and land some guys and continue to build the class and have a great time," Askew said after visiting AU on Saturday. "I feel like we're winning the state right now, so that's a big thing."

Auburn currently has nine commitments for 2017, with five, including Askew, coming from Alabama. The other four are:

  • Four-star OT Austin Troxell (Madison)
  • Four-star ATH Alaric Williams (Gadsden)
  • Four-star ILB Tadarian Moultry (Birmingham)
  • Two-star LS Bill Taylor (Tuscaloosa)

Alabama has four commitments from in-state recruits out of its 14 total. We will have to see if the lead holds for Auburn, but it is doing quite well in the early going.
