Apparently the injury was immediately evident to everyone at the game.

This is Russell's second major injury in the past two seasons. The quarterback suffered a significant neck injury last year that caused him to miss six games. We don't know much on the extent of Russell's current injuries, but it looks like he is done for the rest of this season, too.
Russell had thrown for 1,966 yards and 19 touchdowns heading into the game against Oklahoma.
