Blake Barnett may take advantage of transfer loophole, could be back in the SEC next year

Could he be back sooner than we think?

If Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett does indeed transfer, he could be back in the SEC sooner than Alabama would definitely like.

Reports are that Barnett could be seeking to transfer to a JUCO school now, meaning that he would then be eligible to return to an FBS school after sitting out the first four games of next season.

The potential of Barnett being eligible for most of next season could be a coup for any Power 5 team, but particularly for any SEC team. The quarterback situation for most SEC schools is iffy at best, and Barnett would immediately become one of the best players on several teams.

Barnett technically opened the season as Alabama's starter. However, he was quickly replaced by true freshman Jalen Hurts in Alabama's game against USC, and the job has firmly belonged to Hurts ever since.
