California has been on the prowl for a new coach since firing Sonny Dykes on Sunday. There were a few rumors that Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason was a favorite, but he shot those rumors down himself. Now it seems that Cal is in the negotiations process with its next head coach:

Cal will still owe Dykes almost $6 million since they fired him without cause, but Wilcox is likely to still make a pretty penny as the head coach of a solid Pac 12 program. Wisconsin ranked fourth in scoring defense this past season and seventh in total defense so hopefully Wilcox can bring some of that with him to the west coast.
